Neesons is ready for any turn of events

Accurate, timely transcripts are the hallmark of any competent court-reporting firm. The ability to deliver when the unpredictable occurs, or when a case requires a high level of innovation to get the job done, is Neesons’ forte. The gold standard is not how the regular, everyday case is handled; it is how the exceptional cases are dealt with that speaks to exemplary service and client experience.

Superior qualifications

Our reporters’ qualifications range from Chartered Shorthand Reporters (CSR – Ontario) to many National Court Reporting Association certifications (RPR, CRR, CCP, CBC). We are authorized by the Province of Ontario to administer oaths and take affidavits.

Neesons is an active member of the National Court Reporters’ Association (NCRA), the National Network of Reporting Companies (NNRC), and the Society for the Technological Advancement of Reporting (STAR).

Experienced, competent support staff

The staff that you may not see – those who work on our clients’ behalf behind the scenes – are skilled at meeting your needs and arranging for all your requirements. Our staff is uniquely positioned to assist with challenging assignments, where logistics, technology and urgency need to come together in one cohesive, common-sense way.

Any location, any time

We are pleased to offer well-appointed, complimentary boardroom space at our downtown location. However, our court reporting services are also accessible in almost any venue. From counsels’ offices to clients’ factories, most locations will allow us to provide our court reporting services.

Kimberley Neeson

With over three decades of court reporting experience, Ms. Neeson has been at the forefront of advanced-technology reporting. She was one of the first reporters in Canada to actively use and promote real-time reporting in the litigation setting. Upon starting her own business, Ms. Neeson expanded her interests to include realtime captioning for the hearing loss community.

Ms. Neeson has repeatedly been named as one of Canada’s top 100 female entrepreneurs by PROFIT/Chatelaine W100. In addition, Neesons has been recognized as a PROFIT 500 Fastest-Growing Company, Canada’s largest annual celebration of entrepreneurial achievement ranked by five-year revenue growth–nationally, regionally and by industry.

She is a Fellow of Academy of Professional Reporters (conferred in 2016), a Registered Professional Reporter, a Certified Realtime Reporter, a Chartered Shorthand Reporter, a Certified CART Provider and a Certified Broadcast Captioner. She was awarded NCRA’s Certified Realtime Administrator designation in July 2011. Kim is also recognized as an Authorized Court Transcriptionist by the Ontario Government.

Say it Forward — Helping Everyone Access Justice

Message from our President, Kim Neeson.

Over the last year, I was struck with the type of gift giving and incentives that are put forward by various court reporting companies in our community. As a person who has always believed in ethics first, I have struggled with how Neesons could, with integrity, compete with things such as an all-expense-paid trip to Las Vegas that an assistant could win simply by placing a booking for court reporting services; days at the spa as a reward for booking at a particular court reporting firm; and large-scale parties at chic locations where the alcohol flows freely. My belief is a firm should be booked because it is the right place to conduct a discovery or hearing for your client. In certain circumstances many of the “gifts” violate corporate and governmental policies on this topic and may cause the recipient and their firm to potentially be in breach of Revenue Canada guidelines on the claiming of such gifts. Ultimately some of these “gifts” really belong to the client paying the disbursement.

Say It Forward allows our clients to bank credits from the purchase of transcripts that may be applied towards services in two ways: first, as a credit towards any firm’s pro bono activities where services such as court reporting, videoconferencing or boardroom rentals are required; or second, as credits donated by our clients to Pro Bono Law Ontario (PBLO).

Our goal is to work with our law firm partners to “[P]ay It Forward” and help those for whom access to justice is not an affordable option. To register your firm in our program, please contact Kim Neeson. Together we can make a difference in the lives of many Ontarians with all of our charitable works.

Lawyers Feed the Hungry

Lawyers Feed the Hungry is one of Neesons’ favourite charities. The Toronto Lawyers Feed the Hungry program has provided hot, healthy meals to needy Toronto residents since 1998. Running year-round, the programs serves more than 60,00 meals a year and is funded through donations to The Law Society Foundation and is administered through volunteers from the legal community.

Touching Tiny Lives

As a mother of two sons, I can’t imagine facing the challenges that the families in Lesotho, Africa experience when AIDS and HIV enter their lives – and most especially, how tiny newborns and young children deal with this significant and serious disease. Touching Tiny Lives provides essential care to severely malnourished, critically ill or orphaned babies, and additionally provides outreach health care service to socially support children, pregnant women and caregivers in their villages. Neesons is proud to support TTL’s initiatives.
